Determination. Looking up.

I have to give this pesky plant a nod in this example of a ‘make the best of what you’ve got’ kind of way.

Beneath the sidewalk, with only a smattering of sunlight reaching it, this little plant is literally hanging on and growing.

Clinging to the side of a storm drain wall, how did I even look down and notice it? Another example of determination in nature. Again, an invitation to contemplate.

As my gardening tendencies run in the horticulturally challenged range, I have no idea what type of plant this is. So my thoughts drifted to dandelions. A weed; and unwelcome pest in the yard.

Yet I, like many, have received bouquets of yellow blooms loving collected by my children. In a moment, now the plant is precious.

And many many times we have wished on the puff of the dandelion seeds sent into the wind. Now a sign of hopes and dreams.  Hmmm.

“What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again.” Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay

“I say the universe speaks to us, always, first in whispers. And a whisper in your life usually feels like ‘hmm, that’s odd.’ Or, ‘hmm, that doesn’t make any sense.’ Or, ‘hmm, is that right?’ It’s that subtle. And if you don’t pay attention to the whisper, it gets louder and louder and louder. I say it’s like getting thumped upside the head. If you don’t pay attention to that, it’s like getting a brick upside your head. You don’t pay attention to that—the brick wall falls down. That is the pattern that I see in my life and so many other people’s lives. And so, I ask people, ‘What are the whispers? What’s whispering to you now?'” — Oprah Winfrey

Grow little plant grow. Way to go.
