keep trying 2Let’s set the scene. A grass strip bound by concrete on all sides, between a sidewalk, a rock-wall and a road.  It’s an eight by 20 foot grass island along a suburban arterial. I drive by occasionally; I’d guess about four times this month. (And yes, it is as enchanting as it appears. OK, not so much.) Many similar borders are along the road, but this one has a guest.  For some reason I have noticed A) the molehills and B) increasing number of them.

What do you see? An animal? A pest? Determination? Futility?

This guy is stuck no matter which direction he heads.  It’s gotta hurt whacking against the proverbial wall. But he or she keeps trying.

“You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don’t try.”  Beverly Sillskeep trying 1

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” Wayne Gretzky

“I made 5127 prototypes of my vacuum before I got it right. There were 5126 failures. But I learned from each one.” James Dyson, Dyson Company (on 15 years to design his bagless vacuum)

I’ll try here, OK then here, how about here, if not there then here. . .

I don’t like moles but for some reason I admire this spunky little mammal.  It’s January.  A plethora of resources and encouragement are available for New Years resolutions.  And I’m inspired by a mole. Crazy.

Keep Trying.  “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”  Thomas Edison
