Java Jolt

Have you had the ‘OMG it’s almost the holidays and I’m not ready’ jolt yet?

Are you feeling any extra pressure with almost a week until Thanksgivukkah? In just days Hanukkah and Thanksgiving will coincide for the first time since 1888. The next time the holidays will match up is the year 79,811, but no worries. Thirty-eight days until Christmas. And our family has four birthdays nestled in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Cripes!   (A pre-PS, I’m not complaining, we love the holidays. But gosh, the season change seems extra fast this year.) Bring on the espresso and let’s get going.

Many will look to their cookbooks, magazines, blogs and websites for inspiration (epicurious.com is my friend) . I was looking through 2013 photos to get get a jump on preparing holiday cards (aka Costco coupon).  And saw a little collection that I didn’t know I had.  Usually I just snap and delete non save-forever shots but some made it into family photo folder. (Another example is the Oscar Meyermobile) This impromptu collection is coffee cup wisdom, or sassiness. Randomly snapped & sent to friends in a quick text for a smile on the run.

Double Shot

A long ago PBS pledge drive gift.  When filled with coffee it would transform from Carpe Diem to Seize the Day. However someone (moi) has put it in the dishwasher too many times, though a nice ghost shadow effect remains.

Another cup in my pseudo collection, this one from my sister in law. A morning cup enjoyed al fresco. That’s a Celosia or Cockscomb plant.  So unusual; however, I’m reminded more of a sea coral than a rooster . . .cup 6Bring on the cape and a non-fat mocha, I’m ready to tackle the holidays!

Now let’s have a cookie with that cup of Joe, and go! with a cuppa

Israeli newspaper Haaretz posed the question: “Why not ‘Chanksgiving?”

I like it.
