Khan Do It

I just watched an interview, and loved this quote.

“The goal isn’t to leave a better world for your kids, it’s to leave better kids for the world.” Sal Khan, Khan Academy

So I went to refresh what I knew about Khan Academy, a nonprofit with the mission of providing free, high-quality education for “anyone anywhere” in the world.

You probably know this because it’s super cool, but FYI from www.khanacademy.org

All of the site’s resources are available to anyone. It doesn’t matter if you are a student, teacher, home-schooler, principal, adult returning to the classroom after 20 years, or a friendly alien just trying to get a leg up in earthly biology. Khan Academy’s materials and resources are available to you completely free of charge.

Which led to an arbitrary (yet fun) segue to creating a collection of Khans too.

Beginning with Mulan’s horse Khan, one of our favorite Disney character sidekicks.

Chaka Khan

New/Old Khan from Star Trek.

Star Trek Wrath of Khan

Title Page for Kubla Khan. Poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, published 1816.
In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea. . .

Genghis Khan

Shere Khan from Jungle Book

In 2012, Time Magazine named Sal Khan in its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

“The goal isn’t to leave a better world for your kids, it’s to leave better kids for the world.”
